Waitangi Day weather

Tomorrow is looking settled over the whole country as the anticyclone continues to hold its grip.

A few cloudy areas in some coastal regions might blot the sun out but winds over the nation will generally be light.

Waitangi Day celebrations look good in the far north with temperatures expected to reach the mid 20s. Easterly breezes are likely with just some passing clouds but plenty of sunshine in the afternoon.

For those who fancy a dip, sea temperatures are at their warmest since last summer and rivers and lakes will no doubt be a popular choice as sunny conditions prevail, especially inland.
The UV index remains extreme, as it has for most of the week and just a reminder that even under cloudy skies, those who are fair skinned are still vulnerable to the sun’s rays.
